Dr. Seuss & Hafiz

Someone gave me a copy of this Dr. Seuss book the other night, Oh, the Places You'll Go!when I was out having dinner alone. The gift was a complete surprise, from someone I barely know!

I don't remember ever having read any Dr. Seuss, and could not at all recall my parents ever reading to me any children’s books before I went to sleep.

We have all been children; how remarkable is that really? Angels, (so vulnerable) without our wings for the most part. And when are we not now always trying to find them so we can caress the sky? Know vital freedom, and feel closer to the Sun!

So I started to read this book that I was given. And I got about half way through it and a clear thought came to mind: of all the great poets, I think Hafiz is most like Dr. S. And can help encourage & patch you up even more. And a good doctor this world surely needs now! My gosh, why can't we just get more lost in the miracle of the earth and stars— and the myriad creatures. And our own extraordinary, extraordinary justbeing alive! And help each other dance more!

So here is a little prescription from Hafiz from one of my first published books of my renderings of him. It goes, now with one word changed:

Just sit there right now, don't do a thing!

Just rest! For your separation from your

truest Self is the hardest work in this world.

Let me bring you trays of food & something

you like to drink.

You can use my soft words as a cushion for

your head.
